Who Am I... And What Have I Done?
It was June 2020, and I, as a visual artist, had decided to learn the bass guitar as the next part of my creative journey.
A few lessons later, my instructor (a generous benefactor and guitar luthier) decided to gift me my first instrument.
We decided on a Fender Precision-style bass. When asked what color I wanted, I cringed a little - these instruments were fine, but all I saw were the big, ugly, white pickguards. I decided right then and there that I would do SOMETHING with the ugly pickguard when I received the bass. Not knowing WHAT that would be, I chose a black bass (much to his chagrin).
Fast-forward a couple weeks later. The bass had arrived, and my benefactor did a thorough set-up and check of the instrument. But I wouldn't even pick up the instrument. Instead, I absconded with the pickguard to add some decoration. I decided on an acrylic paint-pour for a literal "splash" of color. After one very successful paint-pour, and a top coat of acrylic resin, the guitar was finally finished, and ready for playing.

But that isn't the end of the story!
My instructor was so impressed, that he immediately asked me to paint a pickguard for his Telecaster... Then for his Les Paul-style guitar... then for his Gibson ES-335-style guitar (currently in process)!
Then he suggested I go into business, as he was convinced that others might want to jazz up their guitars like this.
And here we are.

As for me... I hail from the Midwest, but am now bordering on the Atlantic Coastal region. I call myself a "Jane of all trades" and a "waylaid creative soul". My resume and interest list reads like a comedy movie:
- Techie-turned-creative-soul: Started life with an Information Technology degree with emphasis on data modeling and analysis...
- Writer - I've written for both enjoyment, and for an income.
- Business owner - I owned a part of a niche, small retail business.
- Caving/Rappelling - I spent many years exploring the underground... and have rappelled some pretty cool stuff (Bridge Day, Black Canyon of the Gunnison, etc.)
- Outdoors - I'm happiest outside. Preferably in weather over 50 degrees, and in the woods somewhere... OR on the beach!
- Creativity - Arts, crafts, music... you name it.
